How to fix sluggish performance in X4 with Certain CPU's

Readers: If you are unsure whether this problem may be affecting you, the telltale sign is a low "cpu mhz" reading. You can check this in the Control Center.  Click Launch > Control Center > Control Center > Hardware Info > System >CPU,

or by typing the command:  "less /proc/cpuinfo", without the quotes, in console window.

To fix this problem you need to:

1) Log on as root

2) Open Xandros File Manager and click on MY Linux,(with the penguin icon), at the top of the left pane.  Note:  You will need to click the View menu, and make sure that Show Hidden Files, and Show All File Systems are both enabled, as shown below.

3) In the right pane, double click the All File Systems icon, then double-click the Root folder, (/)

4) Double-click the etc folder, then double-click the init.d folder, and

5) Scroll down until you find the acpid file, right click it and select Open With > Text Editor

6) Once the file is open, scroll down to Line 105, which should look like this:

echo ondemand > $i/cpufreq/scaling_governor

Edit the line so that it reads like this:

echo performance > $i/cpufreq/scaling_governor

7) Click the File menu and save as "acpid" (without the quotes).

8) Reboot Xandros

9) Fix yourself a Pina Colada, and relax by the monitor, enjoying your new- found speed demon.
